I’m just wondering whether Lincoln is planning to keep this up for 20 years.

It seems to me a bit of an overreaction to being called out quite correctly for being unnecessarily rude.

However, you need to stay on topic. It's against the forum rules to derail a topic.

Yes, I think there is ample evidence that many places are currently in recession.

Can you give some examples? Remember, the "topic" here is the recession of 2001.

I almost answered the OP. It's from 2001. How can it be pertinent at all now?

(The answer is no, btw, for translation.)

Lincoln is reviving very old threads... no idea why, but it must be bad...

it was my thread and I don't appreciate
it. it's incredibly irritating and you are doing a disservice to the community. No idea why you are doing it, but I wouldn't be surprised if you were reported to staff. It won't be me, though. I have more important things in life than dealing with childish behaviour.

For the specific post you may be right, Giovanni (and I put my agree beneath it), but apart from the entertaining effect digging out legacy posts has, it can also be a good opportunity to see, what development our industry has undergone since 2001, when I still was physically working with my both hands pulling cables on site in Sweden, the USA and elsewhere as an electrician. It gives me some kind of shivers to dive into times, which are gone and over, and sometimes I wish those times back. But when I remember, how bad all the manuals were written (translated...) in those times, when I had to set up the equipment on-site, I know that I am working in the right position today.

...that is not just this post or my post... good time to go on holiday in Argentina in the middle of a global pandemic, anyone? Come on! I'm not going to argue over this... there's obviously some kind of weird reason behind this and I can't be bother to deal with such unprofessional and childish behaviour. Have a nice day! The thread was started to ask a question about the situation in 2001. To "answer" it in 2021, referring to this year, throws the whole thing in confusion. It might be better to start a new thread, discussing 2021 specifically. The confusion is the problem.

I need you to dig out a post here on proz dealing with the effects of the Spanish Flu on the translation industry in 1920, and with posts written in 1920! Thanks.

Has your work disappeared? No one e-mails you with jobs anymore? Has it gone terribly quite? Is the taxman knocking on the door requesting money you haven\'t got? It would be interesting to know how the \"slowdown\" (if you are experiencing one) is affecting our community.

Yes, we are currently in a recession triggered by the Coronavirus in late 2019. Hopefully, we will soon have overcome this situation...
