Spanish term

no me las eche de lado

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Mexico/Diego Rivera
I'm having trouble with this. What does the "las" refer to? Obras?

Regarding the third and fourth class tourists, it’s not going too far to let Novoa know that among the people who have bought Siqueiros works are, humbly, George Gershwin and Orson Welles; those who have bought Orozco’s paintings include J. P. Morgan, himself; and although ????? the enchanting Barbara Hutton has brought works from your humble servant, and she proudly displays them.

Patricia Rosas (asker) Aug 9, 2007:
Although the points went to Katarina for "modesty aside" I wanted to especially thank Margarita. She recognized this phrase and its core meaning, and she was right that this was from a quotation from the 1950s, when perhaps it was more widely used. Thanks!

not to put on airs, but/ I don't want to put on airs

I'm sure there are better ways of saying it, but that's what it means.
