Spanish term

de interna

Spanish to English Social Sciences Government / Politics
From a taped interview. In addition to not knowing how to translate "de interna" (I'm sure she was not an MD), it isn't clear to me if this was a private home or a rest home for the elderly.

as a live-in health aide OR: live-in companion

From the context, I think "interna" refers to the fact that she was living at the home.

["health aide"+elderly] yields more than 2,000,000 hits. However, it usually refers to "home health aides" who come in during the daytime. That's why I added "live-in".

'Health aides' have a certificatio program, so 'live-in companion' might be safer.

I worked live-in

Almost impossible to know if she was working as a maid, as a carer or what, so this is the way I have come up with to avoid the issue!

My take:

I got a live-in job in a house in El Palmar, taking care of two old people.
