Hello again
I wonder whether anybody could help me with this awkward phrase. It can mean different things, but this is specifically medical. I did find an entry in Proz about "intact membranes" but was not sure how this fitted in with what I have here. Please do not suggest anything with "solutions" as this does not appear to be related.
Here is the context:
Perhaps I could just put "continuity/intact nature of the adjacent soft tissue"??
I am assuming they cannot see the soft tissue clearly because of the air bubbles.
Thank you for any help!

Thank you for your contribution. I had considered "discontinuity" but chose " breaks in continuity" instead. A very close call! |

Note from asker:
Yes, there do seem to be references for this, trouble is I do not understand this in English, so although this could be correct, I need to find something I myself understand. Should others vote for this, that would be a different matter:) |

interruptions
I didn't see this question when I answered your other one. "Sin" from the other phrase belongs to this part: "sin soluciones de continuidad" means 'without interruption'. The whole phrase is a single idiom. In my other answer I specifically quoted an entry from Marina Orellana's dictionary, "Glosario Internacional." That dictionary is my most prized possession!!!
In your case, it means "gas can be seen to extendfrom the muscle without any interruption into the soft tissue".

Liz, that was my initial reaction, but as I read it more carefully I realized that it all goes together. Your text says literally: "without being able to see/observe/appreciate a resolution to the continuity [read: interruption]" Before passing judgment, give my interpretation a try. I think you will see it. This is a tricky expression that doesn't come up very often, but I've encountered it before.

Note from asker:
Muriel, I am reading this as "sin que se puedan apreciar",i.e. the "sin" goes with "sin que", particularly as the subjunctive follows. the "sin" does not go with "sin soluciones de continuidad"...this is an interesting discussion:) |

In any case I have chosen the answer I consider the most suitable. Thank you for all your contributions.

I would welcome any translation help. In fact I should have posted a longer phrase:) i.e.
sin que se puedan apreciar soluciones de continuación en partes blandas adyacentes
Es seguro que el tejido muscular del vasto lateral contiene gas, pero éste no se observa en las partes blandas adyacentes.
A ver qué opinan otros colegas.
maybe this =
without there being any interruption in continuity...
any suggestions welcome!
seem to have come up against a brick wall.
