"Le pastel était, jusqu'à présent, entre deux chaises... Il est grand temps de lui donner sa chaise."
Io avevo tradotto con "essere tra due fuochi": "il pastello è stato fino ad ora tra due fuochi, ma è ormai giunto il tempo di dargli il suo/proprio fuoco"
vorrei però che la traduzione rispettasse il gioco di parole e il senso di "dargli la propria sedia". Il testo si riferisce a un genere artistico a lungo ignorato per il quale è giunto il tempo di ricevere un l'attenzione che si merita.
Non so se è corretto, ma "dargli la propria sedia" rimanda all'idea di dargli (letteralmente) un posto tra i grandi generi artistici, mentre "dargli il suo fuoco" non mi sembra che abbia questa sfumatura.
Qualsiasi suggerimento è ben accetto.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Così si usa dire di chi manca di carattere ben definito, oppure in riferimento a qualcosa che rimane incerta tra due soluzioni opposte.
