Hello, dear colleagues. I would have provided additional context, but in reality the entire document was the context. The document itself is a report by a police office describing the facts of an apparent crime. The officer was flagged down in the street by a woman who had found her husband's abandoned car. He was supposed to have traveled to Yuma, Arizona to work but never arrived. She suspected foul play. She provided a report to the officer and the car was impounded as evidence and placed in the yard of the police station. This is the information provided to the "juzgado calificador" by the officer. It was later discovered that the man was the victim of a gruesome attack in which he was stabbed multiple times. My guess is that the "juzgado calificador" had the authority to collect the report and impound the car, but that higher authorities were brought in when it became apparent that there was a homicide.

@AllegroTrans and Paul What leads you to believe that? The asker's question relates to Mexico and if you Google the term you can find various sources that make it pretty clear these courts have jurisdiction over matters regulated in local ordinances. I can see no reason to think that it doesn't refer to a specific court or that the term is simply shorthand for something else.

Asker Yes, as AllegroTrans says, it seems to refers to the court with jurisdiction in the matter, the 'appropriate' court, and was, I suspect, written by a law enforcement officer, not a lawyer or court official.

Asker This seems to means something along the lines of "Court with jurisdiction" i.e. it is not a specific court. It is a heading and the text below it contains vital context here. Can you please post that text.
