Spanish term

IC a RT

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) oncology
Taken from a medical report for a patient who has had surgery for glioblastoma.

Planteamiento: Adyuvancia con Temozolamida-RT conmitante seguida de Temozolamida x 6 12 ciclos.
Plan: IC a RT. cito para inicio de tratamiento y RNM tras la cirugía. (consentimiento informado entregado)

RT is radioterapia, but I am stuck on IC. I wondered whether it could be "investigacion clinica" (because of the reference to informed consent). Or possibly "interconsulta"? "intervencion cirurgica"? But there is no other context to help. The patient never actually received the treatment at this hospital because he has returned to the UK.

Discussion

Hernan Casasbuenas May 23, 2017:
Realmente sería muy util tener más contexto. Creo que las siglas RT se refieren a Radio Terapia pero no veo claro el IC.
Neil Ashby May 23, 2017:
Re: informed consent But then why would it add "(consentimiento informado entregado)" at the end?
I would expect a procedure because of how the sentence finishes "y RNM tras la cirugía", i.e., "IC a RT" pre-surgery and MRI post-surgery.
Iseult Harrington May 23, 2017:
Informed consent (as per Liz) I agree with Liz that informed consent would be the most likely translation, given how it is something that must be provided prior to proceeding.
Erzsébet Czopyk May 23, 2017:
the more likely I think it is, because of the subsequent reference to planning the concurrent treatment. I am almost (98%) sure I am right. See the protocols. Please post more cntext. Likely they offered him/her an initial therapy+RT but he dicided to leave?
Wendy Cummings (asker) May 23, 2017:
@Liz/interconsulta I had thought this too, and the more I consider it, the more likely I think it is, because of the subsequent reference to planning the concurrent treatment.
liz askew May 23, 2017:
another suggestion = interconsulta
liz askew May 23, 2017:
All patients have to give their consent to RT. Also the patient could have signed this on the spot as it does say this has been given.
liz askew May 23, 2017:
I know it's "IC" but could these be Informed Consent?
Wendy Cummings (asker) May 23, 2017:
Brain surgery Yes. Right frontotemporal craniectomy.
Neil Ashby May 23, 2017:
imagen corporal? (body image)
Neil Ashby May 23, 2017:
Would I be correct in presuming that the "surgery for glioblastoma" was excision of a mass from the brain? The spinal cord? Where?
TIA

interconsultation (or referred to) radiotherapy

IC in Spanish in this context would be "Interconsulta"

Exploraciones complementarias: Doy CI (consentimiento informado) y hoja de recomendaciones.
IC a dietista y analítica completa.
IC a higienista dental para limpieza.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Joseph Tein : "interconsultation" is not used in English. They use it in Spanish to avoid using "consulta" which has a different meaning in Spanish.

true, Joseph, but is becoming (although unwelcome) a popular way of describing a referral to another speciality
