@ schmetterlich In that case, I would translate it as 'the person's approval', leave a comment in the margin and then let the client know what I've done. If I'm feeling in a good mood and I've got time, I sometimes provide two or three interpretations with their respective translations, putting them either in the margin or in the email I send when I deliver the translation.

I tried to contact the person responsible for writing these words, but unfortunately, he was not in the country. I just talked to his secretary and she told me that for her it means "aceptarse a sí mismo", but I do not think that is the correct meaning.

ormiston In my case, it meant trying to see what the teacher saw. It was often easier to keep my own interpretation to myself.

I don't know what is meant by 'la aceptación por la persona' but I wouldn't try and guess. I would either ask the client or translate the phrase literally: 'the person's approval/appreciation/acceptance'. It reminds me of when I studied English Literature (at all levels). Teachers found hidden meanings in texts and I always asked myself whether the writer would have agreed with my teacher's interpretation.

In this case the client is the patient, a much more acceptable term in this case. Appreciation is ok, can be approval also. Although in this Spanish text it's not being used, I can see that the original is not very well written, just my opinion.
