"In computing, a pointing device gesture or mouse gesture (or, simply, gesture) is a way of combining pointing device or finger movements and clicks that the software recognizes as a specific computer event and responds in a manner particular to that software. They can be useful for people who have difficulties typing on a keyboard. For example, in a web browser, a user can navigate to the previously viewed page by pressing the right pointing device button, moving the pointing device briefly to the left, then releasing the button."

This little piece nicely explains the different ways the terms "movement" and "gesture" are used in this context:
"There have been numerous attempts over the years to break the decades-long stranglehold the keyboard and mouse have had on the human-to-computer interface by providing some semblance of Minority Report-like gesture control. Apotact Labs recently joined the fray with a four-finger glove-like design called Gest that allows you to control your computer and your mobile devices with your hands.
Gest is described as a digital toolkit that consists of two components: a gesture controller that slips onto your hand, and an SDK that allows anyone to build new applications for the platform. The gesture controller is designed to fit any hand via an adjustable palm strap and four moldable finger mounts. There are 15 discrete sensors in each hand and each finger has the same type of standard accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer combination found in a smartphone.
The software that powers Gest allows it to sense small movements, and by monitoring and learning how you use your hands it also creates a personalized model that’s unique to each user and adapts to that user over time. Apotact Labs claims the result is more precise and accurate gesture control."
In short: you control stuff using gestures (higher-level sets of movements, if you will, which are meaningful to us human beings), but for this to work, the system must have various motions sensing technologies in place (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer).

'interactieve gebaren afstandsbediening' -> Foutieve spelling!

sorry, freek, but you're wrong. a "gesture" is a "gebaar"; it is a movement with a meaning, intended to be interpreted as a command. this has nothing to do with "gebarentaal". standard IT terminology.

Thanks! "(interactieve) gebarenbesturing" also sounds good (maar mist "remote"). I in fact use both "spraak- en gebarenbesturing" on my PC: spraak via KnowBrainer 2016, to control e.g. memoQ by voice, and "gebarenbesturing" in the form of "mouse gestures"

interactieve, bewegingsgevoelige afstandsbediening
https://www.ensie.nl/redactie-ensie/wii

Discussion
As far as 'interactive' is concerned, I would like to refer back to the Philips slogan I've just quoted: uWand: The solution for Smart TV interaction. To me this means that the uWand has been specifically designed for interaction with smart TVs (i.e. to provide full support for interactive television / 'interactieve televisie').
All in all, I would say that Jorim has been offered plenty of useful information and references and will therefore now leave it up to him to do with it as he pleases :-).
"motion sensing capability = the basic technology underlying the system allowing motion to be detected
"gesture recognition" = that part of the system that allows us to code specific gestures (sets/kinds of movements) to mean specific things in the digital world
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_detection
As far as I see it, movements are more general than gestures. Gestures actually consist of one or more movements, done in a particular way.
For example, you can move your hand/mouse up or down, to make sth on the screen move up or down. This could be called a basic movement. However, Windows 10 allows you to control specific things via "gestures", which are specific sets of movements. For example, Windows 10 has a new "three finger swipe down" gesture, which minimises all active Windows, and a "three finger swipe up" gesture, to bring them back. The concepts movement + gesture are intertwined and sometimes overlap.
~
The reason it is called a <font size="2" color="blue">"three finger swipe down gesture"</font>, and not a <font size="2" color="red">"three finger swipe down movement"</font> is obvious: as it becomes more complex, and starts to involve various parts of the body, aspects of physical activity, direction, speed, etc., it moves away from being a basic moveme
"A main feature of the Wii Remote is its motion sensing* capability, which allows the user to interact with and manipulate items on screen via gesture recognition** and pointing through the use of accelerometer and optical sensor technology." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Remote )
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_detection
"gesture control" is a well-known term/concept, and is perfectly correct in Asker's context.
"Gesture control is the ability to recognize and interpret movements of the human body in order to interact with and control a computer system without direct physical contact." (http://www.gartner.com/it-glossary/gesture-control/ )
"AMD Gesture Control" (http://www.amd.com/en-gb/innovations/software-technologies/g... )
etc. etc. etc.

uWand: The solution for Smart TV interaction
uWand is an intuitive ‘remote touch’ technology. When embedded in remote controls it gives users fluid and accurate direct pointing touchscreen like experience and 3D gesture control on TVs and set-top boxes. Unlike controls based on touch pads and gyroscopes, it is an inherently intuitive experience for point-and-click control and provides far greater accuracy for controlling the TV than gestures.

"As far as I'm concerned, 'afstandsbediening' is already implicit in a translation like 'interactieve gebarenbesturing'."
If you translate it only as "interactieve gebarenbesturing", it is ambiguous whether you're talking about a "remote", as in an actual device ("een afstandsbediening"), or the action of controlling remotely ("afstandsbediening").
the src says:
interactive gesture remote
not
interactive gesture control
So I think we need to mention the "afstandsbediening" (noun) aspect too.
Zie bijv. https://www.galaxyclub.nl/2014/01/samsung-galaxy-s5-oog-head...
beweging = active and the user wants to be actively in control...!
Marketing-wise I would never go for 'gebaar'
(The Wii is even used for fitness purposes, that's pretty active!)
gesture-driven control
gesture-based control
gesture control(s)
etc.
All remotes are interactive, if not they're useless...
Finally: don't copy/paste bad translations...
if the English src says "interactive gesture remote", you cannot simply change this to "intuitive gesture remote"
