Misschien omdat een vulpijp (tremie is een hopper) van opzij bekeken een ovaalvormige buiseinde te zien geeft?
In ieder geval geeft een afgeschuind vulpijpeinde minder kans op verstoppingen, want de opening is groter, en je hebt meer "tweedimensionale" afvoermogelijkheden.
