De viltzijde van het papier is de bovenzijde van de papierbaan tijdens het productieproces. Vroeger werd het papier in de papiermachine in de droogunit tegen het vilt geperst, vandaar de naam viltzijde. De viltzijde is over het algemeen gladder (minder ruw) dan de zeefzijde.<br />De viltzijde is het tegenovergestelde van zeefzijde.
