English term

infill well

English to Dutch Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci
definition: an infill well is a well drilled on an irregular pattern disregarding normal target and spacing requirements. Infill wells are designed to increase natural gas recovery in areas where imposition of normal well spacing requirements would cause available natural gas resources to be unrecoverable. extra put

Elsevier's Oilfield Dictionary (1965!) gives 'infilling drilling' - 'tussengelegen locaties boren' and 'infilling well' - 'tussenput'. To be honest, I don't think tussenput is used at all (maybe it was in 1965).

NAM refers to 'extra put' in this document here, which from the context sounds very much like an infill well. A quick ask around among colleagues also suggests that 'extra put' (extra geboorde put, extra toegevoegde put) is acceptable.
