Protecţia e a scrierii CD/DVD/BD-ului (BURN Proof) atunci când memoria tampon, dintr-un motiv sau altul, mai ales din cauza utilizării în timpul scrierii CD/DVD/BD a altor programe/aplicaţii care consumă prea multe resurse, se goleşte. Nu la "umplere".

This requires the program or device reading from the buffer to pause its processing while the buffer refills. This can cause undesired and sometimes serious side effects, since the data being buffered is generally not suited to stop-start access of this kind.

The term should not be confused with buffer overflow, a condition where a portion of memory being used as a buffer has a fixed size but is filled with more than that amount of data. Whereas buffer overflows are usually the result of programming errors, and thus preventable, buffer underruns are often the result of transitory issues on the "connection" which is being buffered—either a connection between two processes, with others competing for CPU time; or a physical link, with devices competing for bandwidth.

: Foarte simplu explicat, când inscriptorul nu mai are date în memoria tampon, ţine minte unde a rămas (sector) şi reia scrisul de unde a rămas, când memoria se umple iar. (vezi si mai sus).

Discussion
A buffer underrun error occurs when the flow of data from the original source, such as a hard drive or a CD-ROM drive, was interrupted long enough for the recorder's buffer to empty. The writing action is stopped when this happens, and the recordable disc may be ruined during a write operation.
