I am translating a product description for a program that digitizes vinyl/casettes etc. "Sensibles Material" is the title of a section that goes on to explain how easily records become damaged.

Any ideas?

'records'... ...here seem to denote vinyl albums and music/other cassettes which are susceptible to physical damage through sharp objects, impact, dropping, rupture/twisting of tape, etc. It's not the loss of or damage to data during/after digitisation. Maybe the Asker can confirm, please?

Thanks for your help. After doing a bit more research I agree with you that "Delicate material" is the most suitable translation in this case.

I don't think they mean the actual physical material but the content on those tapes etc.

That's what I thought at first too. Luckily I have enough context to be sure that they are definitely refering to the fragility of the material.

agree Birgit Gläser : ...but it is not necessarily fragile like glass, a scratch or dust does not break them, and tapes' worst enemy is magnetism
