Aha! Well I withdraw my suggestion, as Jeffrey is providing a quote more from the horse's mouth. It is the eternal difference between what is actually used in English-speaking countries and what the powers that be regard as the "officially" correct translation. :-)

overall achievement mark
This is the term used by Utdanningsdirektoratet these past five years.
I know, because I was part of the team that developed their NO>EN dictionary for lower and secondary education.
Note the use of mark versus grade, which Utdir was emphatic about, although I disagree to the confusing use of mark for grading (marking?).
Of course, things change, and the latest version of the Dictionary (see the hyperlink below) includes curious words and phrases that just appeared out of nowhere...

: To me, 'Overall' includes everything, including exams. This mark only covers coursework.

IMHO
"Standpunktkarakter" is the grade that a teacher gives a pupil based on the quality and effort the pupil has put into his/her work in that particular subject throughout the term/year.
