Here is an example : The success of the Atkins plan may lie in increased food satisfaction, which in turn leads to fewer cravings and less overall food consumption. ..., an dyou will find a lot of hits for the same here: http://www.google.es/search?hl=es&

love of food
Depends on the context. A culinary artist loves food preparation; a gourmet enjoys eating and drinking, a gourmand does so in spades. Matglede is about finding joy in food, and isn't confined to any particular role - your local Oriental store could display 'matglede' in the selection, quality and variety of the foodstuffs on offer.

appetite
dette brukes på så mange måter så jeg vil også nevne «appetite» (matlyst) / «appetizing» (delikat, fristende) som et dekkende engelsk ord

Ferancis put me on the more direct path to «appetite for good food».
I think we need to include the qualifier: good food

: I would say that 'matglad' means that you enjoy food - which does not imply having an appetite/being hungry

That may be your narrow view. If you look at it closer: a psychological feature, that implies a feeling of desire and craving. What would you say Matgad means. I would say it is a fondness or craving for GOOD food. Well. «appetite for good food then»
