Hotel and Food Science Studies; 2nd year upper secondary school; Cook

"This leads to further courses in Industrial Food Production, Baking and Confectionery. Fish Processing, Meat Processing, Cooking and courses for cooks and waiters and waitresses."

"All Norwegian children have to go to school from the age of six until they are sixteen. Since 1994 they have had a right to three years further education after 16. This may be taken as a three year course at school or, for most of those who take vocational courses, two years at school followed by a year as an apprentice, learning on the job.

At Glemmen we offer this sort of vocational education. In the first year the students take a fairly general foundation course and then they really specialize during the second year."

Your question relates to the second year of studies = Videregående 1 (VG1). The first year is known as Grunnkurs (GK).

Note also that the original word for hotel should have two (2) "l"'s!!!

The link was the first one I found in English. There will certainly be others. They call it "food production" - food science offers a bit more breadth to what they actually do! I used to teach English to this group of students at a Videregående school.
