There are very few N-E dictionaries freely available on the Internet, and most of these are either highly specialized or very poor. The Foreign Ministry\'s EU/EØS base (http://decentius.hit.uib.no/udbase.html) is a very useful source if you are translating government documents. The largest comprehensive N-E dictionary I know of on the net is the Clue demo at http://66.70.46.80:5555/. Clue is a large collection of terms derived from other sources. Unfortunately they do not state their sources. It can sometimes help to put you on the right track, but, like all dictionaries, should be used with care. If you are translating professionally from Norwegian to English, you would be advised to obtain some of the large general N-E dictionaries and specialized dictionaries that are available in electronic form. The largest selection is available from Wordfinder (http://www.wordfinder.no). Another company is iFinger (http://www.ifinger.com). Both of these companies provide their own electronic interfaces to dictionaries originally published by various well known publishers. Both offer the new \"Kunnskapsforlagets Store N-E\", which is a valuable basic general N-E dictionary that should be owned by anyone translating professionally from Norwegian to English. Wordfinder also offers Danish and Swedish dictionaries, including the exceedingly useful L&H dictionaries at very competitive prices.

prickly
