Norwegian term

flagging

Norwegian to English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
This term doesn't seem to be used in English - or is it? The Norwegian Securities Trading Act reads: "§ 4-2. Flagging av erverv av større aksjeposter, rettigheter til aksjer og stemmerettigheter

and it translated as: "Section 4-2 Disclosure of acquisitions of large shareholdings, rights to shares and
voting rights."

Unless I can be convinced otherwise, I'm going for "disclosure" or similar.

Yes, you're quite right. I hadn't thought of that.
brigidm (asker) Nov 2, 2010:
Ok. Just thought that if you agreed with it, it would be good to record for future reference (which is much more important than the points).
eodd Nov 2, 2010:
This is a not-for-points opinion!
brigidm (asker) Nov 2, 2010:
Yes, I thought so too, eodd. But I found nothing to corroborate this. But I did manage to find "flaggemeldinger" translated at "disclosures of holdings". If you care to confirm and enter it, you can win yourself some wonderful Kudoz points!!
eodd Nov 2, 2010:
I would guess that the Norwegian term flagging is borrowed from the English phrasal verb "to flag up", but I have no evidence to provide of this. As I say it's just a guess. I think disclosure seems perfect as a translation.
