As a person who has been through this myself, I understand what he is getting at, but I just cannot think of a single English word that would fit here, unless I change it completely and say "something to be ashamed of", but "kjipt" and "shame" are not the same are they?

: I agree that this covers the meaning well but, as this is also a slightly derogatory term for a gay man, I don't think it can be used in this context.

I'll post this because I think it's a good translation but it does have a bit of the same problem that 'bummer' does in regards to double meaning (though not to the same extent, I don't think).

This question has been answered before. Regarding the comments about understanding the Norwegian sentence, it should be "who keep it a secret and think/feel that doing (or having to do) so is a pain."
