Norwegian term

ble lagt til grunn

Norwegian to English Law/Patents Law (general) Court petition
I know there are several entries in the glossary for legges til grunn, but neither fit exactly in this context. Perhaps being ruled in favor of XX? Thanks for your help!

Discussion

Christopher Schröder Jun 30, 2014:
FWIW I too would say here that the board found/ruled in favour of XX as the suggestions below don't really fit this context. I'm not a law translator, mind.
Charlesp Jun 30, 2014:
Yes, you are right Yes, you are right. It has been asked before - in the same context.

formed the basis, was taken into consideration

Tihs comes up in Danish too, and depending on the situation, I tend to use

formed the basis (possibly rephrased in the direction of was based on)

or

was taken into consideration > with due consideration for

Both are given in Dansk-Engelsk Juridisk Ordbog - Helle Pals Frandsen.

Norwegian term (edited): hvor kreditor, XX., sin fremstilling ble lagt til grunn

that was predicated on the case made out by creditor XX

The word order may need expanding and changing.

Predicated on> standard AmE vs. based on in BrE.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Charlesp : sounds like a lawyer wrote that. A very professional and articulate one at that.
