Spanish term

ACR

Spanish to English Medical General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Cardiology
From part of a Doppler study: "IM central con ACR 4.3 cm2". I'm guessing from the units that A is Area but I've no idea of the rest! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Another useful resource: http://www.msc.es/estadEstudios/estadisticas/docs/diccionari... . I've found this really useful as well, so it may help some of you out at some point!
Biomed Sci (asker) May 7, 2009:
Ooops!! I meant to put the caategory as abbreviations etc. Sorry :(
Joseph Tein May 7, 2009:
The category of General/Conversation/Greetings/Letters doesn't fit this at all. There is a Medical/Health Care as well as a Medical/Cardiology category that you could have used.

ERO

I agree with Deborah and Liz, but the term may more properly be ERO (Effective Regurgitant Orifice Area) which is given in cm2, and is calculated using color Doppler jet area. Check the web reference http://www.zunis.org/Mitral Regurgitation.htm for a good explanation of all the related terms.

Susana, thankyou very much for your suggestion. You may well be right but unfortunately I didn't have enough information in my text to be 100% sure. Thanks again for taking the time to answer - I really appreciate it!

VERY USEFUL resource

Here is a link to a site with over 18,000 Spanish medical acronyms (and over 37,000 different definitions). It has been an indispensable resource for me.

(But ... with 12 different definitions for ACR it doesn't include the one above! Nothing's perfect.)

Joseph, I just want to thank you very much for the excellent resource you posted! I KNOW I'll be using it in future!
