Spanish term

AP pendiente al alta

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Request for a second opinion on possible cancer diagnosis
My problem is the achronym "AP" I can't find the expression on the web clearly related to medical achronyms.

This is the context:

Sin otras lesions morfo-metabólicas en la actualidad.
BAG guiada por TC (21/1/2016): microbiología negativa.
AP pendiente al alta, (posteriormente se confirma adenocarcinoma de pulmón, EGFR y ALK WT).
Proposed translations (English)

@ Joseph You are so funny... yes I did have breakfast several hours ago :-)
Joseph Tein Feb 21, 2016:
is it breakfast or lunch? Lorena, 11:30 is too late to not have eaten anything ... you're a medical interpreter, right?
Eileen Brophy (asker) Feb 21, 2016:
OK Joseph I will take your and Liz's word for it, thank you both for your help, I never thought about eating Lorena before carrying on with the translation, that is true, healthy food stimulates your brain!! :-0))
lorenab23 Feb 21, 2016:
Dah! Of course! I shouldn't give my humble opinion before eating :-) Agree with Joseph and Liz
Joseph Tein Feb 21, 2016:
And Liz's humble opinion matches mine :) Given that, no need to check with your client.
Eileen Brophy (asker) Feb 21, 2016:
So I may have to ask my client perhaps?
Joseph Tein Feb 21, 2016:
another humble opinion AP refers to 'anatomia patológica' ... that is the Pathology findings aren't in yet (waiting to be confirmed) at the time of discharge :)

What does my humble colleague think?
liz askew Feb 21, 2016:
pendiente resultado de AP > pending pathology result/report

In my humble opinion AP refers to the adenocarcinoma de pulmón which had yet to be confirmed when patient was released :-)

Maybe in this particular case you could also write "pathology results were not available at discharge" or something like that, since the text goes on to say that they subsequently found the cancer.

And here's a reference (for some reason ProZ doesn't think that people who have posted an answer should also post a reference ... I've never understood that).

Are you using Cosnautas to look for acronyms? Cosnautas contains over 30,000 Spanish medical acronyms, often with many -- sometimes dozens -- possible expansions. For AP we have a record 86 possible expansions given, including your little one:

39 anatomía patológica; anatomopatológico || ≡ anat. pat., anat. patol., APA || ◊ PATH (pathology)

(it's free to use the site, you just have to register)

The Siglas Médicas part is free; I know they have other areas that you have to pay for, and I've never gone there.
Note from asker:
Thank you for the reminder Joseph, I had forgotten that I registered with Cosnautas some time ago. <3
@ Joseph Tein: Not an easy site to use without paying though!!
