Spanish term

marginal [as used here]

Spanish to English Other Military / Defense
I am translating the service record of a soldier from the Spanish Civil War, in several places it puts a date followed by the word "marginal".

Example: "el 15 de julio marginal"

Can you tell me what this means or the term in English for it? Thanks!

Spanish term (edited): marginal
Selected

of the year indicated at the margin (of the page)

En este caso "marginal" se refiere al año indicado al margen de un registro, como se puede ver en el enlace de referencia:
https://books.google.com.sv/books?id=audpBQAAQBAJ&pg=PA144&l...

Así, por ejemplo, según el enlace, 11 de enero marginal, debe entenderse como 11 de enero de 1939.

Y se puede traducir como:
11 de enero marginal
January 11 of the year indicated at the margin (of the page)

MEJOR:
11 de enero marginal
January 11 of the year indicated at the LEFT margin (of the page)
Peer comment(s):

agree Toni Castano : Correct, however not "year", but "date".

Año, para ser más preciso.
agree philgoddard : I can't see it in your reference, but this sounds convincing. Toni's "date" is incorrect, though, and you don't need to keep saying "of the year indicated at the margin". You can just leave it out.

Es para ser más preciso, incluso se puede decir "at the LEFT margin (of the page)"
