Subtitling Rates in the UK Sep 15, 2017

Hi all,
For UK-based subtitlers, I know the rates vary from GBP 3 to GBP 6 per minute for subtitle translation and around GBP 2 to GBP 4 for subtitle creation (spotting, timecoding).

Uhmmm. The rates shown there for "document translation" are much lower than the rates I get from translation agencies. I guess the same applies to subtitle translation rates.

That may be what agencies want to pay their subtitlers, but these are not acceptable rates.
Subtitling rates (spotting + translation + revision) should not go below £12 per video minute. Add a 100% surcharge if there's no script.

People : Subtitling is not a hobby. Charge decent rates. Charge the rates suggested by professional organisations, not by agencies!
