I worked for many years as sworn translator and by then I also accepted cash.

This question has been asked several times before...

Certainly I will choose bank transfer. However, as we know, some agencies pay us only through Pay Pal or Skrill. Some other agencies pay us through bank transfer only for relatively large amounts of payments.

Within Spain and Europe. Any time I've ventured outside I've been stung one way or the other.

paypal or bank transfer Aug 11, 2014

both are efficient and work well.
I have had some clients who send me a number of small payments, which I let accumulate in my paypal account....that way I have a balance available if i want to purchase something.
Also some banks seem to charge a lot for transfers...i recently received a payment from france which reduced a small payment of about 45 EU to 12!

Huge piles of used notes and heavy gold bars are also accepted!

In the U.S., bank transfer fees can be ginormous. Some of my clients pay me with bank transfers and I never see a fee, but on other occasions I have paid a very hefty fee. So, bank transfer as long as I don't have to pay.

PayPal fees are high, in my opinion. I like the ease of PayPal, but with a check in my own currency I can be sure there are no hidden costs. All I have to do is take it to the bank, and now the banks don't require deposit slips; you just stick the checks in the slo

Interac or Direct Deposit Aug 11, 2014

In Canada, bank transfers can be fantastically expensive. PayPal also has a %-based fee. The best payment methods for me are Interac or Direct Deposit, neither of which costs me anything. But they are only available to Canadian senders.

For payments from international clients, I accept PayPal for amounts less than $500 or bank transfer only for amounts greater than that, which is the approximate point at which the sliding PayPal fee becomes greater than the fixed bank transfer fe

The only difference being that the bank transfers in India are reasonable. I would prefer checks from overseas clients. PayPal is truly expensive. Same in India, but still waiting for the check reading ATM's.

Cash Aug 11, 2014

Cash is definitely the best method of payment. It is the only way that avoids bank charges and taxes. Taxes in Brazil are the highest in the world, and bank charges are a rip-off too.
I remember one job where I had to pay the bank - the bank charges (flat fee) were more than the value received.
Apart from cash, wire transfer is my favourite but I end up using PayPal in most cases as this is what most clients use. PayPal is a good system but charges are high, as already mentioned.

Never used Skrill - I had a profile in the old Moneybookers system but never used it.

Bank transfer Aug 11, 2014

Bank transfer within the Euro-Zone is perfect for me. From all other countries PayPal is still the best, though more and more expensive, method. But my favorite method is cash since there are no fees applied for neither party. And it's always nice to meet a customer in the "real" world.

Bank transfer, PayPal and cash Aug 11, 2014

Those are the payment methods I accept. Particularly, PayPal is very convenient, fast and secure -- a sign of the times, maybe?
