The Japanese
May 16, 2015
With apologies to the Japanese, because this isn't their fault at all. The greatest fear of the Chinese translator is Japanese names in our texts, because it can be a real adventure finding out how to express them in English.

Fears of?
May 16, 2015
I would rather say these are the 3 greatest fears of smartphone addicts. I don't use mine a lot for work. I will maybe check e-mails and send replies for the very urgent ones. For anything else, a laptop is infinitely more comfortable.
I'm more concerned about hardware crashes and events that take me away from my keyboard when I'm working on urgent projects!

Fundamental fear !!!

Weak wi-fi ---> switch to the LAN connection or to other modes of network or run to an internet cafe
Slow processing ----> keep your cool for now and next month, when you have extra cash(??), enhance your RAM
Low battery----> save the file and plug onto the power socket or switch on the ups or if there's no power, feel happy that at last, you have genuine reason to tell your client for the delay:)

In a way, these are all manageable fears !
But to not have projects coming your way for almost a month....i think that's the greatest fear ! ▲ Collapse

The greatest one—
May 18, 2015
That the company (in the case of outsourcers) will not be able to tell the quality of your superb translation, trying to compare it against some questionable translation memories they have. Too short deadlines and lack of understanding how long things take and what obstacles may be on the way. That the company will not pay, or that you will have to waste time trying to sue them, although this has happened only twice in my life.
