I agree with Paul and the other colleagues when it comes to corporations, but it\'s also true that international organizations work differently. It is indeed hard to get in them, to begin with. They do offer a good number of benefits (particularly appealing if you are married and/or have children) and, if you get placed higher in the ranking scale from the start, they usually include good chances of actually developing a career. My only piece of advice to you: beware of bureaucracy. It\'s everywhere, and you might get nervous once you realize things don\'t move at the pace you\'re used to. Being a free-lancer does entail tons of stress at some points (when you have loads of work or when you have nothing for some time... how to pay the bills, will I ever get called again, etc.) and a lot of comfort spots once you\'re established (freedom!), and working for an international institution implies a great deal of changes in that respect -it\'s a much slower world, in my experience (the UN).
