Hi everybody,

I work with OmegaT 2.6.3 update 3 for Mac (this morning, when this issue arose, I updated the software; before that I had 2.6.0 if I remember correctly).

I have been working with OmegaT for 4 years and never had any issue; today I was working with my biggest and oldest memory as usual when, doing some searches, I couldn't see any translations –just the original sentences where my term appeared (the "File search" box is not ticked).

I couldn't see a reason for this, so I updated the software. After that, I have realized that all the segments in my TM appear now as untranslated – from the file that I've been translating this morning to the translations I did 4 years ago.

I've opened other TMs and they're just fine.

Any idea of what's going on? Do let me know if you need more details.

Thanks in advance
Rosa

One reason could be that one of the project languages was changed.

Thanks for your quick answer, Didier. The language pair remains unchanged. Actually, when this happened this morning I wasn't fiddling with the software or anything. It's most bizarre...

It might be a strange bug.

Anyway, OmegaT should have stored a backup of your translation memory.
In the "omegat" folder of the project, you will find files such as project_save.tmx.201309131729.bak.

Make sure you are not in OmegaT.
Rename project_save.tmx to project_save.tmx.sav (just in case).
Rename the most recent project...bak to project_save.tmx.

It worked Oct 4, 2013

It worked, Didier, thank you very much.

I wonder if there is anything I can do to prevent this from happening again in the future. Anyway, your quick help was really appreciated.

Best,
Rosa

Always make backups Oct 5, 2013

Hard to say, as I don't really know what happened.

But, in any case, in addition to OmegaT internal backups, you should always backup your projects (especially the "omegat" folder) on an external media. You never know what can happen: hard-disk failure, file corruption, etc.
