The museum La Piscine is really worth the detour. After the visit we can sit in the garden coffe shop and enjoy cakes and tea from a very famous chef.
Roubaix was once the place near Lille where all the textile manufacturers had there luxurious houses, so the swimming pool (French : Piscine) was built in the best art deco style. Now it's converted into a museum with sculptures on each side of the pool and pictures hanging in the cubicles.

Lille is easy to reach by Eurostar from London and Brussels, by TGV from Paris , by car from the Netherlands or Germany, etc...
From Lille station to Roubaix you can take the driver-free underground or the tram (about 30 mn).
