At the previous International conferences I've attended, the Powwow has been in the evening, so that even late arrivals can attend.
I was hoping there might be a sight-seeing tour on the Friday afternoon.

At the BCN 2010 conference, it was indeed an evening powwow, with a visit to an astounding photo exhibition.
@Russell: a "tour" of BCN sounds like a VERY ambitious programme

Yes, "sightseeing" might have been a better expression. We had organised sightseeing tours in Krakow, Budapest and Ohrid.

I see that you have been quicker than me!
I am putting together a wine tasting on Friday evening and I'd like to know if any of you might be interested. It will probably last for about 1 hour and a half and there will be tapas for dinner (small dishes). The price is 25€ per person (tasting and dinner). It's in a place in the city center, so afterwards we can meet at a bar with other people.

The powwow will be celebrated on saturday 9th june at 18h30 (place to be confirmed)
The wine taste is organized by a member of ProZ on friday 8th june.

Whatever your option is, fine with me, but the Conference (and Gala Dinner) organizers might not be too happy with this competing event , and some people may be divided between the 2 options on Saturday night, so it would be better, I think, to make things clear once and for all, to avoid further misunderstandings.

Also, I would like to propose an alternative to going to a restaurant or a bar: have a picnic. Barcelona has many fine parks, the sun goes down late in June and the weather is usually mild. It would be easy to go from the Conference to say, Jardins del Mirador de Montjuïc, bring along a blanket, some food, a bottle of wine, cups and plates, and have a stunning view of the city to boot.
