Because Connect was explicitly offered and advertised by ProZ and has obviously not worked for years, or not for everyone!
The problem here is fundamental: ProZ has an incredible tendency to sit out problems - "Thank you for your patience." Yana's last post in the Connect thread was on May 20th (if I'm right). Since then, several members have pointed out that the problem has not been solved. The least you could expect would be a statement from Proz, but instead they focus on Pastey and promoting their Premium membership. Seeing all the bugs and especially Proz's attitude it makes me wonder why anyone would want to spend money on it.

Very weird May 29, 2024

Very weird that I received every single one of those Connects messages. Have you guys checked your Spam folder?

ProZ will be able to provide evidence of those having been sent to you, if they have, like a screenshot or web pathaway.

I had similar situations a couple of times (lost opps), when they landed into my Spam, but these were not Connects program, just regular messages. I made it a habit to check my Spam since then.

So what? Good management would be to provide that evidence, so everybody can move on, instead of remaining silent about it and, by doing so, making the problem bigger. Imagine being Proz, knowing that said feature works properly but not communicating about it. Makes a lot of sense.

The highlighted word is what counts here. The issues on ProZ are like if an e-commerce shop had ongoing checkout issues where you lose money every time you buy something.
Customer protection is not a joke - products you offer with certain features should work as expected most of the time. No all-caps disclaimer will protect you from being held liable for losses caused by those products/features not working as they should.

Aren’t there tons of lost opportunites for me if a “colleague” is using a script or a bot to grab jobs? Where to report that?

To the agency you work with, who else? If they are serious, they will take action. If they are not serious and don't care, or they are not good business people, they'll sit it out...

Had a number of tech issues last year, and as a paying member, was waiting for weeks or months for ProZ staff to react or properly address them. With some of them, I just gave up.

I imagined they were busy. I didn’t open a thread about it.

How on Earth can I report something 1) I can’t see and 2) I don’t have evidence to provide? I only learned about it on the forums by people disclosing what they are doing and how they manipulate the system. From what I can recall, you personally were supporting the idea of bots grabbing the jobs.

I think everyone checks the spam folder regularly these days.
The fact that some of us received all messages, others (like me) stopped getting them at some point and others have never seen one of them - and the fact that there is no path to that message center on the website (sic!) - makes things even worse.
How could this misalignment happen? Too many and out-of-sync servers? A corrupt script?

I don’t know May 29, 2024

I don’t know, I am not a developper. Maybe those colleagues who manipulate the job systems with scripts and bots could tell us, they seem to know the subject-matter very well. I wouldn’t be suprised if they used their scripts on Connects center to grab all the jobs and then messed something up.

No, we are speaking of completely different things.

That's your choice. What are you trying to say? That people shouldn't open threads about issues? I don't think I get your point.

Fair enough, but why joining a discussion if you don't want to be understood?

Because I want it, you don’t represent the entire thread. There are others on here, and those who just read without participating, they probably understood.

You don’t own a thread, people join without having to explain their reasons to you.

I think I am not the only one here who would like to see a statement from the ProZ staff on the serious issues that have been reported so far in this and the messages related thread.

I understand that. But I am not a developer or involved in any programming, so I can't speak to those issues.

Christoph's post was clearly ironic, but as stated in a previous post of mine, Pastey's actual usefulness needs to be verified, and most importantly, it can't take precedence over blatant malfunctions and KEY SERVICES and FEATURES that we pay for but don't work, meaning a huge loss of business opportunities.

And it doesn't take precedence. Neither the developer of Pastey nor myself are involved in any of those services or features affected. We're 40+ people on the team and as in any company, we work in different departments. And Pastey happens to be one of the many offerings. So that's what I work on and talk about.

As a business, your primary goal must be customer satisfaction, and that means knowing their needs and taking them seriously, and remediating to failures.

I'd argue that we do take it seriously. Very much so. I know of plenty of projects that have been put on hold to solve these issues first. As for the silence, from what I've seen, there have been answers from the team. Yana recently chimed in, though I am not sure on which post that was.

Thank you for your reply, Tanya. I just addressed you as a team member who is at least actively participating.
As others have said, customer communication is a key business factor.
When main features are found not to be working, resulting in potentially huge losses, a company needs to communicate with its customers, to apologize and to tell them how the issue could happen, how it is being addressed and when it will be presumably fixed, and how they intend to compensate for the inconvenience, the stress and the losses.
With in the meantime so many people here not renewing their membership, I also wonder if ProZ has a customer recovery program in place. The best prospect is a former customer.

Migrating... May 29, 2024

Yes, that communication can be summarized as: "The migration went kind of wrong and we are doing everything we can to solve the issues", followed by "We have solved issue X", followed by "No, you haven't", endless repeat. You may call that "answers", but I can't.

from fairly old releases is always going to be riddled with issues (I speak from experience). ProZ made the mistake of not upgrading to the newest releases when they were available. That said, all the bugs should be "dead" by now, but they aren't... I can only draw my own conclusions about this...
