I'm not sure if I should post the person's name here...
If anyone can help, I would be forever grateful.

Well... It was a really good piece of social engineering. The company is there, the person sending the email not only exists, but has done work or worked with the company in some capacity.

For 3 days, on the chat, I went from one person to another because the transaction could not be made with a BIC Code. Someone gave me a first email
emmanuelfajutina2@gmail.com
to pay through PayPal the amount of 335€ (CAD= 500.00) so that the BIC code would be generated at once. Stupidly enough, I did, but worse than that I made it 'Paying Services' to which the XXX on the chat told me it should have been done to 'Family & Friends'! Yesterday, after so much insistance and enquiring why on earth should I be making a 'refundable' deposit by PayPal to get the BIC Code, I was again more naïve and stupid. I repeated the payment yesterday in a different currency.
Emmanuel Fajutina −19 596,85 ₱ PHP - 15/02/2025
The BIC CODE came at once. The transfer of the money did not! Finally.... I realised I was being scammed. 335,00 euros twice!
When I wrote I was going to report to the authorities, I was immediately banned from the broxel bank.
I made a claim on PayPal, but I doubt any good results. And now I just came to Proz and enquire and... blast! More than one people got scammed with Mosaic Press.
I learned my lesson in the worst way, loosing 670 euros!
I am attaching the chat of yesterday, maybe it helps someone.

Hello,
This is just to inform that I also received the same message with a job offer from a so-called "MosaicPress" (hires@mosaicppres.com). If you search this e-mail address, you will find that there are people and translator's groups/associations warning about the scam. | | | Maria Laura Curzi Argentina Local time: 07:58 Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Sepanyol + ...

I want to share a warning about a potentially fraudulent job offer that I recently received from Natalie Carlsson, Human Resources Manager at Skill Mosaic.
The project details were as follows:
Source Language: English
Target Language: Czech
Total Budget: £5,500 (paid upon project completion)
Advance Payment: 50% of the budget after delivering the first 30% of the work
Payment Milestones:
50% upfront after submitting the initial 30% of work
Remaining balance upon full submission
Submission Timeline for First 30%: 4 days from project start
Full Project Timeline: 2 weeks
Despite several attempts, I was unable to verify any of the provided details, including the company registration, the contact information, and the legitimacy of the offer. Additionally, the high budget, tight deadlines, and vague company background raise red flags.
If anyone has received a similar proposal, I would appreciate any insights or confirmation. I am also happy to share more details about my communication with them upon request. ▲ Collapse | | | Maria Laura Curzi Argentina Local time: 07:58 Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Sepanyol + ... | Luana YANG China Local time: 18:58 Ahli (2024) Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Cina + ... They are now approaching me under the REAL company name "ALFAGRAMA EDICIONE, an Argentina based, accredited publishing firm", with the email address "info@alfagramaediciones.com", and the contact person "Rosa Monfasani, Recruiter coordinator".
Same project "Huaman Environment", 6 days' deadline, and a "too good to be true" rate--that's when I became alert.

That is the one that matters.
Anybody can spoof a sending email address.
It's the return email you must look at.
EDIT: In any case, https://alfagramaediciones.com/ just shows a placeholder at Hostinger rather than a real website.
So it's difficult to conclude that alfagramaediciones.com is the real domain, which seems to be this.

Since it is now clear that this is just another scam, I want to outline the details clearly.
You receive an email from an official-looking Mosaic Press address, but the company name is misspelled—possibly intentionally—such as "hires@mosaicppres.com." The sender is always someone named Ivy Reiss. They provide you with a random open-source research article from the internet and offer extremely high compensation rates. The sender is always someone named Ivy Reiss. They provide you with a random open-source research article from the internet and offer extremely high compensation rates. In my case, they quoted $0.35 per word, which amounted to an astonishing $3,000 for just 20 pages.
Additionally, they require you to sign an NDA, which turns out to be a blank template with no company name or signature. This raised my suspicions, prompting me to research their legitimacy, which ultimately confirmed the scam. ▲ Collapse | | | Luana YANG China Local time: 18:58 Ahli (2024) Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Cina + ...
