I see many users complaining about not being able to connect to the ProZ website for the last several months or the connection being extremely slow. I am experiencing these issues as well, either getting a Cloudfare error and not being able to connect at all or the website taking up to 3 minutes to load a page. It appears to be a worldwide issue.

I am relying on ProZ as a professional and have paid hundreds of dollars for the highest level tier membership yet it is a struggle to even get on to the website.
I wrote to Support and their response was "Our systems team is aware of the issue and is actively working on a resolution to restore optimal performance as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience and understanding." I find this response unsatisfactory and Proz should compensate paid members for this extremely unfortunate issue, extending the membership of all paying members since the time this started occurring (i.e. several months). ▲ Collapse | | | abe(L)solano Perancis Ahli (2012) Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Sepanyol + ... maybe their server it's in Ukraine... | Apr 2 |

I can't help but think this is a gross lie. Bug after bug keeps on appearing and despite several promises none of them seem to be completely fixed.
These server problems, however, are a game-changer. Combined with the complete silence of proz staff (standardized vague reactions like "we are working on it" don't count) this is simply unacceptable.
I've just canceled my automatic subscription renewal and I will only consider renewing my subscription if the following 2 questions are thoroughly answered:
- When exactly the server problems will be resolved?
- When exactly the new website will be operational? (not a vague promise, but a specific timeline)
If these questions aren't answered to my satisfaction I will not renew my membership coming May. I have little hope, though, that things will change. The Facebook page is also dying. Proz seems to have become a steerless ship. Either nobody knows how to steer in the right direction again, or it is steered voluntarily into the cliffs.

I was thinking about it too, but it is still no excuse. It's been years, they should be aware of the issues and do something about it or, at the very least, communicate better. My membership just expired and I see no reason to renew it at this point. | |

I'm sure we'd all be much more sympathetic if that were the case. That's why transparency is always the best solution to any problem and avoids unnecessary image crises. | | | Server based in Ukraine | Apr 2 |

In addition to Lieven’s questions, I have a few more:
1. Who are your developers? Can we get their names and credentials, especially credentials?
2. How do you plan to pay for damages to paying members, if this continues?
In real life, if I pay a rent for a house, I usually have access to whoever is maintening the buliding, eg. company name, address, etc. - see my question No. 1. This should be no different from real life.

Proz may be silent and vague in order to squeeze as many remaining membership fees as possible from newbies or clueless members. If they were completely honest and transparent, they couldn’t do this.

In my thread of January 2024 ( https://www.proz.com/forum/site_forums/365302-complaint_about_bugs_at_proz_staff_update_on_the_software_upgrade_process-page6.html ) I already asked for a refund/extension of the membership. I was still a paying member at that time and have been for 20 years. Actually this situation, with various constellations of bugs and different degrees of impact, has started probably early 2023, but we weren't told then what was going on and were "left in the dark" for a long while, until the last months of 2023, if I remember well, while people complained over and over for all kinds of bugs. In my opinion, this was not very "user friendly", especially for those who had paid, and not precisely what is generally understood by "transparency".

It really makes me wonder what happened to ProZ staff. No reaction at all. Is everyone on holiday, gone on strike or what? There are several threads here regarding complaints as to the (non-)functioning of the website and no-one feels responsible to react? The usual "thank you for your patience" doesn't count.
I'm really happy that I decided to stop being a paying member. BTW: Are people signing up now even aware of these problems? | | | David Jessop Sepanyol Ahli Bahasa Sepanyol hingga Bahasa Inggeris + ... TOPIC STARTER Part of an exit strategy? | Apr 3 |

I'm just speculating and I hope my speculation isn't accurate, but in light of their behavior and the state of the translation industry, in the last year or so ProZ has implemented a top tier Plus Premium membership level, where they build a website for you, invite you to a couple private forums, and have some other offerings I haven't fully explored yet. I am wondering if alarmingly ProZ is trying to milk more capital out of users without having to invest more themselves before they finally shut the doors in the next year or two. | | | Lingua 5B Bosnia dan Herzegovina Local time: 06:54 Ahli (2009) Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Croatia + ...
Yes, seems like that to me. ProZ has a certain number of “employees” i.e. “Proz staff”, I assume their salaries were coming, at least partially, from our membership fees. Sponsor banners etc. were the profit for ProZ. As everything has been sold to AI, there are mostly AI company banners, but I doubt anybody is buying those AI tools so the sales will plummet, and no money will be coming from sponsors anymore. They are silent to avoid the negatives. In this case, to try to milk more memberships, yes. ▲ Collapse | | | Lieven Malaise Belgium Local time: 06:54 Ahli (2020) Bahasa Perancis hingga Bahasa Belanda + ...
If it's not an exit strategy, they do put a lot of "effort" in letting it appear an exit strategy: a continuously malfunctioning website, a visibly lowering presence of staff, annoucing a new website, but refusing or being unable to communicate about when exactly it will be implemented, etcetera.
Not sure it will completely disappear though. Even in this state someone apparently is still making money out of it.

A few days ago, I noticed duplicate entries (3 same entries by the same person on the same date) on one of the outsourcers listed on BlueBoard, so I submitted a support ticket to Proz. When I accessed the said page, only one entry out of three was deleted, so I re-opened the support ticket and reported that I still see duplicate entries by the same person. Then, two days of silence, and finally I got a reply that the situation has been solved. So I accessed the BB to check if everything was okay, but the link I included in the support ticket was invalid, i.e. I got the message "No outsourcer with that ID was found", with a note from site staff saying "This outsourcer has been banned from posting jobs at Proz.com". My reaction was ??? I don't know why the whole BB record for that particular outsourcer has been deleted; I just asked them to delete duplicate entries which could be misleading and not allowed which have been entered on the same date.
This may be a trivial problem, and I sometimes spot them even though this was my first time to report this error, but it's a real mystery why the site staff has deleted the whole BB record for that outsourcer.
I re-opened the ticket once again and asked the staff to make only one entry by the same person visible and delete the other two duplicate entries. Let's see how things go. ▲ Collapse | | | Christine Andersen Denmark Local time: 06:54 Ahli (2003) Bahasa Denmark hingga Bahasa Inggeris + ...
