See more In my early days of translating, I had known of a specialist bookshop owner who catered quite intensively to a translator's specific needs. Does such a one still exist? Currently, I'm looking for a FR to EN/EN to FR set of dictionaries (so to speak), revolving around Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, engineering and perhaps an overarching technical dictionary. Yes, the internet is wonderful to us all now, compared to the 80s/90s, but I have very often gotten a spot on clue or direct translation for a tough-to-translate phrase. My question then is this, what dicos might you recommend in these fields, do you use them still, and is there still an old grizzled bookseller with a stunning array of multilingual technical dictionaries? God, I loved that guy. He'd send out a type-written catalogue of his collection. Phenomenal. ▲ Collapse | | | Jack Doughty United Kingdom Local time: 00:36 Bahasa Rusia hingga Bahasa Inggeris + ... My Heart’s With the Paper
(based on Robert Burns’ poem “My Heart’s in the Highlands”)
My heart’s with the paper, my heart is not here,
My heart’s with the paper forever, I fear.
A-chasing the wild word, and failing; and yet
My heart’s with the paper, and not with the Net.
Farewell to the paper, it’s sad but it’s true -
To the Websters, the Oxford, and Callaham’s too.
Hello to the Google, hello Multitran.
Yo... See more My Heart’s With the Paper
You have to find answers wherever you can.
Farewell to Larousse, and hello, Wikipedia.
There’s all that you need on the Internet media.
Farewell to Britannica filling the shelf.
It’s all on the Web, you can find it yourself.
But my heart’s with the paper, I say it again.
My heart’s with the paper. It causes me pain
To abandon my lost loves, no more books to see.
My heart’s with the paper, and always will be! ▲ Collapse | | | Jean Lachaud Amerika Syarikat Local time: 19:36 Bahasa Inggeris hingga Bahasa Perancis + ... | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Good old Paper dictionaries!
