Geez! I said formal education not bilingual education. I'm talking about learning grammar and syntax and verb tenses and parts of speech, and semantics and punctuation and vocabulary and essay writing and .... Is that not what one is supposed to learn and command to become a translator? If not what is? ( btw these are rhetorical questions) I'm left in the dark just as ATA left me.

Something I have observed in good translators (or people I would categorize as good translators) is that they always feel they have a lot to learn. A translator is also a curious person by nature, and someone willing to listen to what other people have to say.
