However, before we leave the subject entirely, I would like to report that the word "cheesoid" (meaning cheesy) is alive and well in California, a state where in the recent past there was a big campaign by the California Cheese Board implying the reason people would come to California: "It's the cheese." This worked its way into the vernacular for a while, like "Where's the beef?" before it, but didn't have staying power.
