A friend of mine has also posted this link on Facebook. Lots of people have commented on the use of the word 'spastic' which is considered offensive here in the UK. I was just wondering whether the term is offensive in US English? Presumably not, otherwise he wouldn't have used it (hopefully!)
I'd just like some opinions to be able to feed back to my friend who simply could not believe that the term would not be just as offensive in US English.

I'm American and as far as I know, in the US "spastic" just means hyperactive, over-excited, at least that's the way it's usually used.

So surprised that he came back to the limelight. His new album was a best-seller. I used to listen to him when I was a kid. The song "Word Crimes" has been a big hit with teachers, translators, speech pathologists whom I know. Pretty cool.
