I see that I can use my surplus BrowniZ to purchase some Directory Text Ads. These are small Google Ads-like adverts that appear whenever anyone performs a directory search that matches my criteria. G'day everyone

I see that I can use my surplus BrowniZ to purchase some Directory Text Ads. These are small Google Ads-like adverts that appear whenever anyone performs a directory search that matches my criteria. Every time the advert is shown, 10 BrowniZ points are deducted. For a minimum investment of 4000 BrowniZ (seeing that I'm stuck with about 100 000 of it), this does not sound too bad.

However, after doing quite a few searches in what I assumed would be a popular language combination, I find no evidence of the existence of these adverts. I wanted to see some adverts because (a) I wanted to see exactly where on the search results page they appear and (b) I wanted to see some examples from which to craft my own.

Does anyone know of a language combination plus specialisation plus other criteria in the directory search that results in the display of a Directory Text Ads advert?

Are there general statistics about how many translators use these adverts, and how many of them actually get clicked?

Directory text ads temporarily disabled Aug 21, 2012

Hi Samuel, thanks for checking. We discovered a bug in the directory text ad system that was depleting user accounts far too quickly. We had a developer look in to it and we discovered a few more bugs that need to be addressed. As the system was not working properly, I felt it best to completely turn it off for the time being (why you do not see any directory text ads).

We have a few items on the development teams plate right now, but I hope to be able to address these bugs and t... See more

We had a developer look in to it and we discovered a few more bugs that need to be addressed. As the system was not working properly, I felt it best to completely turn it off for the time being (why you do not see any directory text ads).

We have a few items on the development teams plate right now, but I hope to be able to address these bugs and turn the system back on soon.

Once it is working properly, I will let you know so that you can fully review and determine if the directory text ads would be valuable for you and your business.

My credits went quickly indeed (3 days? a week?) even with criteria somewhat filtered, and I didn't notice much relevant traffic on my profile.
BrowniZ are now easy to earn with quick polls only, and I think I tried the minimum of 4,000 for so many clicks. Or was it display? I can't remember.

I saw my own ad, but I had some layout problems to make it look good. You can't put much in it, actually.

Thanks, Drew. I'll look into that after I've participated in the next translation contest
