to stand surety bedeutet Bürgschaft leisten, Bürgschaft stellen, to provide bail bedeutet zusätzlich Kaution leisten, deshalb würde ich to stand surety hier bevorzugen

: Romain/Byrd/Thielecke (4th Ed., p. 201) also suggests "(to) stand surety" for "Bürgschaft leisten" (which is synonymous with "Bürgschaft stellen," according to Romain). The poster will probably have to change the sentence to accomodate the verb. =)
