French term

Grande cuisine professionnelle

Non-PRO French to English Marketing Real Estate Property specification
This is a very large property with features such as an independent studio, large grounds and many bathrooms. I am unsure whether this indicates "staff kitchen" or something else, as a large fitted kitchen has already been listed.

4 chambres, toutes avec leurs salle de bains privatives
Petit salon
Sous-sol
Grande cave à vin climatisée
Grande cuisine professionnelle

May 17, 2019 15:18: Yvonne Gallagher changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Yolanda Broad

Non-PRO (3): Rob Grayson, Rachel Fell, Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

large professional (-grade) kitchen

In other words, one that a chef would use. You could also say rrstaurant-style.

Or even restaurant-style.
Peer comment(s):

agree Eliza Hall : Yes. This sounds like the typical luxury kitchen that rich Americans and Brits like these days, with professional-grade appliances etc. I would NOT say "restaurant style" because that's a totally different esthetic.

Yes, maybe. The Spanish says professional, so the English probably should too.
agree Ph_B (X) : "professional-grade" is how I understand it: a chef could very well work there, even though that may never happen.

Large catering kitchen

As opposed to the everyday kitchen, this would be for entertaining large numbers of guests and the host and hostess would almost certainly not have a whiff of onion on their manicured hands.

agree Tony M : Or it could even be that someone has actually been running e.g. a catering business from these premises; it would be unusual to refer to it as 'professionnelle' if it were just a sophisticated home kitchen, which tend to be called a 'labo'. Likely!

Thanks Tony. I think it is called "professionnelle" because it is intended for use by professional caterers brought in for special occasions.

chef's kitchen

In the show 'Million Dollar Listing' they often talk about 'chef's kitchen' like it's the hottest thing. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, since this is a real estate listing.

neutral Tony M : Runs the risk of over-interpretation, in the absence of adequate context.
