: Does 蓽路 mean "ups"? I'm under the impression that 蓽路藍縷 only means "hardships" rather than "ups and downs". ("蓽"是指以荊竹樹枝之類所編成的籬笆或遮擋物,so "蓬篳"生輝-- means 寒居,謙稱自己家裡.因為'蓬篳'都是簡陋的東西,故我認為'蓽路'和'襤褸'其實都是用
