Here context is necessary. a word can be represented in many ways. In general, सामर्थ के अतीत and मेरे बस की बात नहीं represents two different meaning.
For example:
इतना बड़ा रकम चुकाना मेरे सामर्थ के अतीत है = It is beyond my capacity to pay such a huge amount.
Again the same word can be used lightly or jokingly as इतना बड़ा रकम चुकाना मेरे बस की बात नहीं
In second way this phrase is used as dislike. For example:
राजनीति करना मेरे बस की बात नहीं= Politics is not my cup of tea.
