I was born in Switzerland, studied Pharmacy at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (BA in Pharmacy), and have worked in the field for many years (leading pharmaceutical companies, such as GSK, Novartis, and a university hospital). Given that English is a very important language in any business, I decided to study English on the side and become proficient in the language (Cambridge Proficiency Exam).
In my early forties I left Switzerland, first to Zimbabwe to live my dream of working with big cats, then I moved to South Africa, the home country of my husband, where I became a certified English to German translator (WLS - World Language Services, Dublin, Ireland), as I was not able to work as a pharmacist.
Meanwhile, I have worked as a translator (freelancer/sole proprietor) for roughly 5 years, mainly for a Language Institute in Cape Town, South Africa, Amazon Europe, and an Austrian Language Institute with offices in Austria and South Africa. Given my background, I specialize in medical/pharmaceutical translations, but also have experience in the technical, the legal, and other fields. I pride myself in providing high (Swiss) quality, localized translations.
