Ascolta, ci sono due strade. Sbucano entrambe in qualche immensa piazzola del centro, o a picco s’un precipizio. Devo scegliere, ne sono consapevole. Vorrei minimizzarmi al grado zero kierkegaardiano. E non muovermi più. Diventare un cubetto di ghiaccio sotto il sole di Maggio. Esistono percorsi che non hanno meta? O itinerari senza ragioni profonde o comunque non riconducibili ad una qualunque volontà d’esserci ? Dove sono quelle stradine
umidicce di un tempo che non portano da nessuna parte? Care vecchie strade, che ci lasciate sempre con un palmo di naso. Così non si fanno sciocchezze. E scegliere non diventa un paradosso esistenziale, tanto una vale l’altra. Ci sono mai state? Almeno non è la possibilità di scelta ad annullarti, ma quel muro di cemento armato contro cui sbatti la faccia.

Listen. There are two roads. They both come out in some immense square of the city centre or straight down to a precipice. I must choose, I’m aware of it. I would like to reach the kierkegaaridian zero degree. And keep still. Becoming an ice cube under the sun of May.
Do runs that don’t have destinations actually exist? Or itineraries without really deep reasons or good grounds however referable to some wish to be there? Where are those humid little alleys which used to bring nowhere? Dear old roads, you always leave us down. So we don’t make mistakes. And choosing is not becoming an existential paradox, they are much of a muchness, after all.
Have they ever existed? In this case, it’s not the possibility of choosing annulling you but that brick wall of reinforced concrete into which you crush your face. |

Poi si chinò verso di me, con fare confidenziale, e mi sussurrò che c'era anche un'altra storia, che i servi mormoravano tra loro; il suo vestito da sposa era stato trovato in una vecchio baule, assieme al corpo completamente decomposto. «Quando tirarono fuori il vestito, il suo corpo non era altro che polvere. Polvere!» Quando stava per andarsene, gli chiesi di portare un regalo al Lord da parte delle suore,come augurio per il suo matrimonio. Era un barile del mio vino migliore, ma prima che lo prendesse uscii nel bosco e tagliai un rametto di vischio. | Translation - Italian
