Source text - French Pour les catalans, c'est complètement la langue, moins pour les basques et un peu pour les Corses. (…) C'est un élément de reconnaissance beaucoup plus fort pour les catalans que pour d'autres. (…) Mais on ne peut pas dire aujourd'hui (…), on ne peut pas attribuer les labels de catalanité uniquement par la maîtrise ou l'utilisation de la langue, surtout pas ici. Cela me semble difficile de dire la même chose au sud. Mais c'est dû à la situation politique et sociolinguistique singulière de la Catalogne du Nord. Il n'y a pas de vérité abstraite et absolue, c'est par rapport aux contingences réelles de la réalité, c'est le terrain qui décide. Parce que sinon, un catalan qui parle catalan et qui véhicule « l’auto-odi », serait catalan et quelqu'un qui ne pratique pas le catalan mais qui défend des valeurs du territoire ne le serait pas. C'est compliqué. Qui est le plus catalan des deux ? Celui qui y est né et qui refuse de l’être ou celui qui veut l’être ?
Translation - English For the Catalans, it is completely the language, less for the Basques and a little for the Corsicans (…), it is a much stronger element of identifitication than for the others. (...) But we cannot say today (…) we cannot attribute the labels of Catalanness only according to the mastering or the utilisation of the language, especially not here. It seems to me difficult to say the same for the south. But it is due to the peculiar political and sociolinguistic situation of the North of Catalonia. There is no absolute and abstract truth (…) otherwise, a Catalan who speaks Catalan but who carries ‘auto-odi’ would be Catalan and someone who does not practice Catalan but who defends the values of the territory would not be. It’s complicated. Who is more Catalan out of the two: the one who was born in it but refuses to be or the one who wants to be?

Bio
After the completion of an MA and a PhD in linguistics, I am determined to apply my language skills to a translating/interpreting pratice.
I am a French native speaker and I have lived and studied in the UK for 8 years. I have studied Catalan for the past 4 years and I have lived in Barcelona for 6 months.
In the writing of my PhD, I translated my data from French and Catalan into English. I also have a very good knowledge of Spanish and Italian. I have had experience transcribing audio data to a written script in three different languages.
I am of a hard-working nature and I understand the importance of meeting deadlines. I have had the opportunity to work under pressure in the past. On these occasions, it was essential to be target focused and resourceful. My hobbies revolve around music and dance so I can offer my services in the area of the Arts as well as in the fields which are more in relation with my postgraduate studies, i.e. languages, sociology, culture, politics, education.
