Dear proz. mates Can I translate .txt files with Trados? If not, can I save .txt files as .doc files, then translate them with Trados, and finally save them again as .txt files?
Second problem I\'m trying to launch T-window to translate .ppt files, but it simply won\'t open....Any clues? Please note I own Trados 5.0 and Office 97

Yes, you can open the txt document in Word, translate it as usual, then save as txt.
The only problem you could come accross would be if your \"txt\" document, is actually an HTML document, in which case it\'s a little more complex because Word would recognize it as html, and use it\'s own f...ked up code to take care of the conversion.
If your document is a normal txt without mark up, no problem.
For ppt, I can\'t help you personnally - I don\'t use that thing, but even for the other guys, you may want to describe a little more your problem. ▲ Collapse | | | Ralf Lemster Germany Local time: 07:15 English to German + ... What kind of .txt? | Feb 27, 2003 |

Yes in principle - what kind of text files are you referring to?

first of all thanks a lot for your prompt replies. My .txt files don\'t seem to be html files, there are no tags. I\'ve tried to save one as a .doc file and it seems to work! As to Power Point, yes I can launch it properly, unlike T-Window...sigh! | |
