Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Trados an old translation project I had started to do before I had it. I have two separate files, one is in my source language, and the other one is its English translation that I had started to write. Is there a way to upload the English file so that it appears and syncs as the translation of the original file? I'm manually copy pasting every segment right now and I wondered if there was an automatic way to do it.

Thank you in advance!

Alignment Apr 2, 2022

If I understood you correctly, I believe you need to align both files and create a TM.

Capturar

This way, you avoid to copy and paste each segment.

I hope it helps!

Here's a video that shows you how to do it:

Hello,

even if the alignement option is a good option, you can go for a better and simple way.

You can copy/paste the source text in an Excel column and copy/paste the target text in another Excel column.

Then you translate this Excel file indicating to Trados that you are translating an Excel bilingual file where the source is in the A column and the target in the B column.

If you read French,

Hi,

Could you please explain how to have Trados open the A column and B column as separate entries? Thank you so much. I can't seem to find the Alignment option and would love to use your solution instead.

Create an account here: https://www.freetm.com

Create an alignment project.

Upload your files.

Download the tmx file.

Create a new TM in Studio.

Import the TMX.
