Teks sumber - Bahasa Inggeris I: The date is 18 July 2021, and this interview is with Participant A. First, I would like to say thanks lah, for your participation to, mmm, to be interviewed.
I: Can you tell me, just a summary, of what you plan to do in the lesson that you have, mmm, planned.
PA: Sure. Okay, can I refer here? (pointing at her lesson)
I: Yes, yes, no problem.
PA: Alright, umm, (reading her lesson). It’s a 40 minute lesson. Basically, I aim to teach grammar, umm, adjectives.
I: Oh, it’s not literature?
PA: No, because practical teacher usually isn’t allowed to teach literature. Only grammar, or skills, reading or writing.
I: I see. Okay, continue.
PA: Yeah, so I plan for my students to use adjectives in a story. They can write a short story, using a list of adjectives that I provided in the beginning of the class. Since it’s only 40 minute, there isn’t much to be done. So, they are only planning the storyboard of the story, a rough draft of how the story flows.

PA: Baiklah, mmm, (membaca pengajarannya) Ia merupakan pengajaran selama 40 minit. Secara asasnya, saya ingin mengajar tatabahasa, mmm, kata sifat.
I: Oh, ia bukan sastera?
PA: Tidak, kerana guru praktikal selalunya tidak dibenarkan untuk mengajar sastera. Hanya tatabahasa, atau kemahiran, membaca atau menulis.
I: Begitu. Baik, sambung.
PA: Ya, jadi saya merancang untuk pelajar saya menggunakan kata sifat dalam satu cerita. Mereka boleh menulis cerita pendek, menggunakan senarai kata sifat yang telah saya berikan di permulaan kelas. Oleh kerana ia hanya 40 minit, tak banyak yang boleh dilakukan. Jadi, mereka hanya merancang papan cerita bagi cerita tersebut, atau draf kasar perjalanan cerita itu.

Greetings! I am Siti Aisyah Jumpaan, a professional translator, proofreader, and writer. My language pair is EN <> Malay. I am specifically trained in English language, having a Bachelor's and a Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have over 5+ years of experience in the translation industry. I obtained my translation certificate from the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM).
I started translating as a side hustle back when I was doing my Ph.D. I translated abstracts, interviews, surveys, and many more educational documents. I did it to strengthen my writing so that I could write my thesis better. I did my Ph.D. in the International Islamic University Malaysia in Gombak, specializing in educational technology. I studied the use of digital storytelling in English classrooms.
